Jaap Stam wants to see fellow Manchester United legend Roy Keane back in management – and he has even made him a proposition.

Keane – a seven-time Premier League champion with the Red Devils – hasn't held a senior coaching position since he was sacked as Ipswich Town boss in January 2011.

He has since held assistant positions with the Republic of Ireland, Aston Villa and most recently Nottingham Forest, but it's been almost six years since he worked on any team's touchline.

Yet former Old Trafford team-mate Stam – who won the Treble with Keane in 1999 – believes the Cork native is a loss to the sport. So passionate is the Dutchman about seeing Keane return that he has even offered to be his No.
